The Doll Fixer

French Rabery & Delphieu bisque Doll
Description
This is a beautiful example of a French doll made by Rabery & Delphieu. She is wearing a stunning reproduction dress made using antique and vintage trims. She is wearing replacement shoes and socks. She is 17 inches tall and is wearing an antique replacement human hair wig and pate. She has original brown set eyes. Based on the RD mark this doll was made between 1890 and 1899. Rabery & Delphieu had a long history making dolls in France from the 1850's culminating in a line of Bisque Bebe's made just before the end of the 19th century.

Marks
The head is marked as shown to the right. This mark was used by Rabery & Delphieu between 1890 and 1899
Condition

The bisque head is perfect with no chips or cracks. There is minor wear on the earring holes. When taking the pictures I noticed some irregularity in the molding of the right ear lobe where the earring hole is. This area appears to be thicker than the other ear. There is also some color missing. This may be signs of a repair to the earring hole but I cannot be sure. In any case I wanted to mention this for completeness. There are no other repairs to the head.
The composition and
wood body is sound with no cracks to the compo or splits.
All of the joint sockets are sound. All of the joints show wear and have some paint loss from the rubbing of
the joints. (see pictures) You can click the pictures to see close-ups of the damage.
The toes are worn and have some paint loss.
There are many areas
of paint chipping on the arms and legs and some significant paint loss
on the right hand. There are no damage to the composition fingers or finger
tips. You can click the pictures to see close-ups of the damage. The stringing is tight on the body.
The replacement clothing was made with antique and vintage trims and is
sound with no rips or repairs. It does have a light shelf dust.
This is an antique doll that will have some wear and minor imperfections expected in an antique or vintage doll. I make every effort to describe all significant flaws in my descriptions and show them in the pictures. Please read the description fully and examine all the pictures to be sure you understand the condition of the doll. The pictures can be enlarged to show the doll in great detail.
