JDK Kestner 245 Bisque Hilda Doll
Description of Doll for Sale
This is a beautiful example of an antique Kestner Bisque head baby doll Marked JDK 245 usually referred to as a Kestner Hilda. She has sleep eyes and is 18 inches tall. She is dressed in antique baby gown with knit panties that could be original. The crocheted bonnet is antique and was added recently. She has a blond human hair wig and a wonderful bonnet. The Kestner body is in great condition with most of its original paint, red lines and blush on hands and feet. There are a few chips and repaints. This Kestner Hilda represents the pinnacle of German Bisque head baby dolls. She was made in Germany by Kestner starting in 1915.

Condition of Doll for Sale
The bisque head is perfect with no chips, cracks or repairs. The body has its original paint finish with original red lines and blush on hands and feet. There are a few areas of repaint. (see pictures) You can click the pictures to see close-ups of the damage. The repainted chip in the first picture is about 3/8 inches. You can also see it in the slide show above to better understand its scale. There is also an area where some paint chips were filled and repainted on the ankle shown in the second picture. The stringing is tight and she sits unaided and poses.
The tips of the fingers have some paint wear but there are no chips or repairs to the fingers (see slide show). There are some cracks to the paint on the hands and feet but no paint lifting or curling. On the left foot there are some cracks and chips that have been filled but not repainted. The wig is original but is thinning noticeably but looks good with the bonnet she is wearing. The eyes work smoothly with some darkening of the eye wax and some minor chipping of the wax.
This is an antique doll that will have some wear and minor imperfections expected in an antique or vintage doll. I make every effort to describe all significant flaws in my descriptions and show them in the pictures. Please read the description fully and examine all the pictures to be sure you understand the condition of the doll. The pictures can be enlarged to show the doll in great detail.
